If you choose to use EventPro’s built-in message managing system, it ensures that everyone stays informed automatically. Messages can be generated when tasks have been completed and when certain activities occur, such as a change in status levels or lock levels.

Unlike “Actions”, which are reminders of tasks that must be accomplished at some point in the future, “Messages” provide notification that something has happened. Messages can be sent to a single person, a group of people or to every staff member.

First, you must decide whether you want to manage your messages using EventPro’s internal messaging system or your email program.

1.Go to Setup | Messaging to open the Messaging Setup screen.
2.At the top of the left side of the screen, you can choose a Message Send Method: Use Default Email, Use Direct Email, or Use EventPro.  Select the radio button next to the option you want to use. If you can't see the options, click the + plus sign to open up options.
a.Use Default Email: This option uses your email program (not EventPro's internal messaging system). You require a MAPI compliant email program for this option.  Messages will be sent from the email address of the user who activates the message notification, and will be received by the User(s) at the email address(es) entered during user setup (review Chapter 1: Setting Up EventPro, Step 11: User Email Settings).
b.Use Direct Email: This option will also use your email program, but with this option, you can specify the email address from which the messages will be delivered.  Enter the email address in the Email From field.  The messages will be emailed from this email address and received by the User(s) at the email address(es) entered during user setup.
c.Use EventPro: Select this option if you want to use EventPro's internal messaging system. If you do not have a compatible email program, you must select this option to use Messaging. You will receive your messages in the Messages screen, accessed by clicking View | Messages in EventPro's main menu.  If you do not use EventPro's internal messaging system, the Messages screen will be automatically disabled.
3.Now, you can set up the messages so that they are sent automatically to the correct recipients.  See Creating Automatic Messages.
